Subject: Unitentional Xp which cause character lvl
I have a lvl 29 rogue that I use to pvp with my friends. Yes i have spent alot of time, effort, and a good size amount of gold on him and can be considered a pvp "twink."

Tonight (aug 9) at around 7 p.m. I experienced an extreme amount of latency and serveral disconnects. I joined a WSG like I do everyday and proceeded to enjoy the battleground. However my latency and disconnect problem continued, and to help my team I left the raid group, and procceeded to exit the battleground.

Upon exiting/loading into Stormwing I was once again disconnected. I logged back in to find that I was in SW, but had lvled to 30. I immediatly checked my combat log to find that I had gained 800 xp, but it did not list a source nor a reason for this xp gain.

I immediatly sent a petition to a GM that was very helpful but was unable to help me.

I now after talking to him have several questions that I would like answered since this is the only character I play, and whether or not I continue my account rests on this issue.

1) he believed that my XP may have come from the Onyxia/Windsor event in the keep. If this is true why did my combat log not show that I had made a kill, how did I make a kill while logging into the WoW server?

2) Why have I been able to tag and kill Onyxia event guards multiple times and never recieved xp? In fact not 30 seconds after he mentioned this scenario, an Ony even started and I proceeded to tag, kill, and recieve a monster slain message yet no xp?

3) He explained that blizzard does not remove xp unless there was a bug that caused its gain. If this is not a bug, then I would like a detailed explanation of what is.

4) He assured me, this would be looked into for future reference. If this is true, why must I be penalized?

5) He also informed me that the xp gain could be found, yet it was a long and time consuming process. I fully understand that, but as I said before, this is something I am considering cancelling my account over, and I would like this looked into.

6) He explained that "twinking" is not a a designed feature. While it may not be designed, it is a very common occurance, i myself know of at least 200 people that participate in "twink" pvp in the 20-29 bracket for the alliance on my server alone. Being that it is so popular, why cant an accidental xp gain be removed, especially since the GM himself admitted that he had never heard of someone leveling in a major city such as Stormwind without some show of a reason.

I would appreciate a response, whenever time is avaliable, thank you.

   Aaronautic,

This issue has been looked into quite thoroughly, and according to our records your character was indeed in the group that killed an Onyxia's Elite Guard, subsequently gaining 283 experience. At no point did your character gain experience that was outside of the current design intentions for the World of Warcraft.

As your character acquired experience and progressed in level through the intended game mechanics existent in the World of Warcraft the Game Master Department will unfortunately be unable to reverse this experience gain.

As has been mentioned on a few occasions, the current design intention for the World of Warcraft is for a character to progress through the acquisition of experience. At this time there is no design support available to keep a character from progressing in level. I strongly encourage you to provide any feedback or ideas you may have concerning this aspect of the World of Warcraft on our Suggestions Forum: https://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.aspx?fn=wow-suggestions

Thank you for commenting, I would however like to point out that three different GMS have come up with 3 different totals as to what experience I recieved from killing said guard. I question how accurate your records are.

Oh and as a last point 283 xp would not have caused my character to gain a level.

To clarify, that was the last amount of experience gained prior to your character gaining a level. To be more accurate, your character gained 49 experience points, then 62 experience points, then 209 experience points, then 273 experience points, and lastly 283 experience points; resulting in the level progression from 29 to 30.

I'm glad to see you have not forgotten the face of your father. :)
