Can you tell us just exactly what the emergencies have been over the past few days?
Some folks are starting to whisper that it's just Blizzard strong-arming the $25 transfer fee out of its customers. Creating such a horrible playing environment on an overpopulated server so as to force players to change realms, and pay your exorbitant fee for doing so.
We'll see if there's any truth to this theory, by noting how long it will be before my post is deleted.

Realms like, for example, Lothar, which is currently down for emergency maintainance for the second time in two days. This is in addition to chronic latency/lag problems that make effective raiding difficult -- sometimes impossible -- and generally make the game much less enjoyable.
I am not an unreasonable person (I do not expect Blizzard to have all realms running perfectly at all times except during scheduled maintenance) but I do expect the products which I purchase to provide me reliably with the service they advertise. WoW advertises gameplay that Lothar hasn't been reliably delivering for some time now. So, WHY THE HECK SHOULD WE HAVE TO PAY FULL PRICE (or any price) TO MOVE TO SERVERS THAT WORK CORRECTLY? Hopefully Blizzard will fix Lothar and other such similarly broken servers and this will be moot, but we'll see.

While I can fully understand this frustration, I can merely tell you that we are coordinating major efforts to address realm performance over the next few weeks. If you feel transfers should be offered in a free, yet limited fashion from realms suffering from poor performance, it is best that you voice your concerns on our Suggestions forum.
