hi, long story short i noticed a character on my realm called lanfearsalt sending COD's to people. as this is definitely not my alt, i reported it and asked some of my friends to report it too.
today i wind up banned because "lanfear" was sending COD's to people. now, one of two things happened here.
1. i was hacked and someone sent COD's to people for no apparent reason
2. far more likely, the GM who handled this did not make even the smallest, most basic investigation into what was actually going on.
the character reported was Lanfear, but Lanfear did not send anything to anybody. an investigation into the mailboxes of the people who reported the COD's should reveal that Lanfearsalt was the sender, and an investigation into account records should show that Lanfearsalt is not on the same account as Lanfear.
i doubt i will get a satisfactory response here, but as im not looking to have the account unlocked (it's already unlocked), perhaps one of you blizzard employees can take the time to read this and respond, because this is basically going to happen again if nothing is done.
you ban the innocent account over and over until it's perma suspension time, and Lanfearsalt continues doing what it's doing. nice, huh? it's a very simple matter, though, so im hoping the company i've been paying for about 2 years can find some time to rectify this.
much thanks[ post edited by Lanfear ]

In order to dispute any action that has been taken against your account, please contact our Account Administration Department by completing this website e-mail form:
http://www.blizzard.com/support/wowaa/?id=eSupport000
They should be able to provide you with additional information and allow you to follow-up on the matter, if you feel that you were wrongfully penalized. Our Game Master staff (in-game or here on the Customer Service Forum) will be unable to provide you with any further assistance in this matter. Best of luck to you, Lanfear.
But hark, methinks a mortal doth approach...

The situation is being reviewed, folks. It does sound as though a mistake may have been made; however, we'll be unable to verify that without a corresponding investigation conducted by our Account Administration department to correct the matter. Although I appreciate the concern expressed by other players, this concerns the player charged with the violation and the Blizzard Support representatives involved only. No one else is entitled to know the results of this situation.
Since we've now been likened unto Fascism, a system of government marked by centralization of authority under a dictator, I'd like to clarify that we are a Support department working to assist players with in-game issues and uphold our Terms of Use as pertains to an online video game. If you wish to draw such comparisons, do so with some perspective. I'd like to say mistakes are never made by this department; but, most of you know that's not the case, nor can it be realistically expected.[ post edited by Batta ]

Although I, sadly, will not be able to divulge any details about the way in which this situation is being handled, I would like to add that this was not simply a case of mistaken identity. We do take steps to ensure the proper investigations are made prior to penalizing any players, particularly if that penalty results in a loss of game time. What happened here was a very rare and unfortunate circumstance which will be addressed internally as soon as possible.
I do apologize, Lanfear, for the initial outcome of this situation and will see to it that we do what we can to correct the matter and remove any record of penalties issued to your account as a result of this case.

Q u o t e: This same thing happened to me! This is rediculous. Someone sent me a red wrapped package CoD and I did not open. It was sent back in 3 days and the person did not get it. Later on for a few weeks I opened a ticket asking for a restoration for an error about sending Shadowcraft Gloves wrapped in Blue Wrapping Paper and the receiver not getting the box. The GM penalized me for sending that scammer a CoD box...
The account with which you're posting has never been charged for a "scamming" violation.
This just feels like spinning plates...
