Subject: No Woman on the Blizzard Dev Panel?

Ok Blizzard, I noticed something peculiar while watching the WWII video from this past weekend.

You are clearly missing the touch of a woman on your development team!

If you have all guys on the panel, you're missing the diversity and uniqueness of a woman's perspective (and only a woman can bring that to the game) :)

I propose we add one female to the next dev panel at Blizzcon, I am farly convinced that this voice of reason will bring us all the much anticpated player housing.

We have women on the development team as well as in many other departments.

Player housing is something that may happen in the future but there are no plans for it just yet. Good try though! If I had a house in game, it would just be crammed full o f weapons with maybe one throw rug so I didn't look like I didn't care about how it looked completely. ;)

Yes, Virginia, there is a Diablo 3.

I just wanted to pop my head in and confirm that I and many other talented women are among the developers who help to create World of Warcraft. We may not have been on the panel this time, but we're certainly around, working hard on new content for you. ;)

Q u o t e:

My daughter is VERY interested in game development and a fairly avid WoW player. She is getting ready to go into high school and has her classes planned out for the next four years to get her started in that direction. Are there any programs out there (blizzard or not) where women in the game development community mentor the next generation of women game developers? Is there a way to introduce my daughter to Blizzard and WoW female developers?

I promise I am not a crazy stalker. Just a dad trying to encourage his daughter, and help where I can, down the path she wants to go.

Thanks!

I don't know of any programs specifically like the ones you're requesting, though they're certainly not outside of the realm of possibility. Really, though, the best way to pursue game development is to learn skills related to the area you're interested in, regardless of gender. ;)

While we don't currently give tours, it is quite possible you could run into some of the female members of our team at BlizzCon. I know I'll be there. :)

You're one of those girls who always wears a pony tail because you don't wanna do your hair, aren't you?

Always? No. Sometimes? Yes. Sometimes it's necessary to just get it out of the way when it's "one of those days" or just plain hot outside. The other ladies know what I mean. :)

There are knives in the kitchen. You really don't want us in there with all of those right? That's all I'm saying here.
