Subject: Calculations from the US forums

Q u o t e:
First I'd like to thank you for confirming the formula for new RPS to be RPS = 1.25 + DPS/LVL. And the rage per hit is RPH=1.25*WEAPONSPEED+DMG/LVL. It's comforting to have some confirmation.

Well, let us unravel that sticky web of yours now. Oh Kalgan, how you like to twist the facts, I wish I could do that half as well as you can! I mean, here you are, trying hard to show real world application of your formula by using a mob with high armor, and you did not include two very impotant things!

- Battle Shout will give this Warrior 20.88 additional DPS (Accounting for 4/5 Imp. BS talents and 5/5 2H Mastery)
- Crits. I know 17.5% crit in Zerker stance is low, but surely you cannot simply discount that right off the bat! If you are going to use a a fairly high 42% Armor reduction as base to try and simulate real world, at least account for crits as well.

So what does that change? Taking 91.18 DPS as our new base DPS with BS, we get 190.4 damage per hit with that weapon against target with 42% damage mitigation, and 380.8 on a crit. So, let's see what the actual numbers will be for our overpowered warrior http://ctprofiles.net/4225116:

1.12 patch Rage per hit with that profile in mind (don't forget to account for misses!):

RPH = (190.4/30)*0.775+(380.8/30)*0.175 = 4.92 + 2.22 = 7.14 (Average rage per hit)

1.13 Rage per hit, keeping the conditions same, and accounting for miss rate:

RPH = (1.25*3.6+190.4/60)*0.775+(1.25*3.6+380.8/60) = 5.95 + 1.90 = 7.85 (Average rage per hit)

So, rage generation went up 10%, not even 1 rage point per hit, for a warrior using level 25 green weapon. Are you sure YOUR data is accurate, Kalgan? Are you sure you had any data to begin with?

Ok, ok, so the OP was wrong. A warrior using level 25 green weapon WILL see some improvement. Well, what if we use level 45 green weapon? At 38.8 DPS, those weapons are sure powerful! And it will provide our Warrior with additional 19.4 DPS as opposed to his old weapon (accouting for 5/5 2H mastery again), giving whole 110.6 listed DPS! And, if we keep the same weapon speed and armor reduction, 230.9 damage per hit, 461.9 damage per crit.

1.12 Rage generation:

RPH = (230.9/30)*0.775+(461.9/30)*0.175 = 5.97 + 2.69 = 8.66 (Average rage per hit)

1.13 Rage per hit, keeping the conditions same, and accounting for miss rate:

RPH = (1.25*3.6+230.9/60)*0.775+(1.25*3.6+461.9/60) = 6.47 + 2.13 = 8.60 (Average rage per hit)

What's this? Our overpowered warrior in greens with level 45 weapon will see a DECREASE in rage generation? Serves right that overpowered cookie-cutter! Yea...

Sigh... I know this post is going to get buried somewhere deep inside this thread, to never see light again, but I really had to point out the flaw in how you guys approached this. Anyway, down with overpowered Warriors with level 45 green weapons!

Was this forumla made by a player, or was it a blue posted it? I've tried to put it up with any data i've gathered from alpha, Kalagan's post etc. and it's just not right.

Those are definitely inaccurate.

Here are the current rage generation formulae (note: these are slightly different than the ones which are on the current public test realms).

The notable changes include an update to offhand rage generation (previously it was not being normalized correctly), and an improvement to rage generation from crits (essentially, crits now generate double the rage the hit would have ordinarily caused). The later change should help ensure that certain specs (ie: sword specialization) don't become clearly superior to crit-enhancing specializations like Axe/Polearm.

For Dealing Damage:
Main Hand Normal Hits: Factor=2.5
Main Hand Crits: Factor=5.0
Off Hand Normal Hits: Factor=1.25
Off Hand Crits: Factor=2.5

Rage Conversion Value (note: this number is derived from other values within the game such as a mob's hit points and a warrior's expected damage value against that mob):

Rage Conversion at level 60: 230.6
Rage Conversion at level 70: 274.7

Expansion Rage Gained from dealing damage = ((Damage Dealt) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 7.5 + (Weapon Speed * Factor))/2

Pre-Expansion Rage Gained from dealing damage = (Damage Dealt) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 7.5

For Taking Damage (both pre and post expansion):
Rage Gained = (Damage Taken) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 2.5
