Subject: Hello, Paladins.
In the interest of fairness, Tonic has asked that I come socialize with you as well as the Shamans, which I'm glad to do.

I'm not a CM, nor do I have any impact on your talents or how you play (though I absolutely love adventuring with you - Devotion Aura is possibly my favorite spell to have on me in the game), but I'd love to simply give you a little blue love for the time being.

Your CMs are busy as bees, and you'll hear from them in due course. For now, though, thank you for being so patient.

Coreiel, have you ever bubble hearthed?

I have not! However, I probably will do so sometime in the near future, just to see what it's like. I rolled my first paladin today, because I've been told I'd like the playstyle in the endgame, by a Paladin I respect and whose opinion I trust.

Sadly, the names Juggernaut and Shildenharth were both taken, so I had to go with something a little less... humorous.

People won't actually read the content of your post -- they'll just start ten threads entitled "Hey Coreiel!".

Oh, I'm aware. However, those who find themselves displeased with my post or position may feel free to look past the post entirely, and I sincerely apologize for posting.

I know you mean well....but can you throw us a bone, prove to us why you may be better than all the other blues who abandoned us?

I don't presume to be. I'm a Forum Moderator, not a CM, and my presence here is simply that - presence, at the request of one of your order.

If you'd like me to leave, I can.

Ah, that'd be telling. I don't want one of you discovering me on my first bubblehearth, do I?

Q u o t e:
Like yourself I am interested in starting a Paladin. I was wondering what reasoning your Paladin friend gave you to convince you to roll the class.

I'm not here to discuss class role, class balance, or theorycrafting, but his words were "You're attempting to do with [your class] what is best done by a Paladin, and I think you'd have more fun if you rolled one."

In a simple act of questioning my personal play preference, I'm willing to take the grind to 60. ;)

Q u o t e:
Honestly, I have thoughts of levelling a 2nd pally, just to "do it again". Not sure what I'd do, once at 60 again, tho. Maybe have one pally Retrib or Prot spec'd, and the other Holy... hmmmmmmmm

I knew a fellow who did that.

He was, hands down, my favorite paladin. (Both of him.)

Q u o t e:
Quick question...how is your name pronounced Coreiel?

"core", as in "Molten Core"

"ay", as in "hay"

"el", as in "elder".

A little awkward. If you can't pronounce it or spell it, Feathers works fine.

Q u o t e:
Feathers,

The first thing I want to say is thanks.

This does disprove the feeling the paladin forums have gotten for a great deal that we're not listened to.

Hey, Gerrex. My pleasure, and I'll see if I can't answer a few of your questions.

Q u o t e:
Honestly I've become under the thought that the CMs are understaffed. Lots of forums floating around and I've counted about 4-5 CMs total. Seems like they're stretched pretty damn thin.

Currently the CMs focusing on class concerns include Eyonix, Drysc, and Tseric. Ordinn and Tyren are also Community Managers (and Block, of course, is the uber l33t CM), but they are concerned with broader aspects of community management than "class concerns". Therefore, there are a total of three CMs relevant to the discussion.

Now, bear in mind that the concept of the "Paladin CM" or "Priest CM" doesn't exist on our side of the Forums. All CMs cater to all classes - they have to, with nine classes to three CMs. This is, again, a lot of the reason there's been some significant silences, particularly since E3. If Eyonix is ill for a couple of weeks, that's a full third of the CMs that won't be around to chat with you.

I understand there's been a long wait for blue attention, but hopefully this will help you see it from the CMs' perspective. It isn't as though any other class (or classes) are getting more attention, or undue attention - there's simply a line, and it forms to your left (mind the Mages, there's a puddle of tears). ;)

Q u o t e:
1. Do you directly interact with CMs at all? Even seeing them in the hall to ask them something? Heck, they even on the same floor that you work on? Heh.

We all work in the same room, kind of like a bullpen. I sit near enough to Tseric to tap him on the shoulder, and I'm in Nerf-gun range of Drysc (Q_Q).

Q u o t e:
2. Can you point out threads to CMs? In a "Hey, I saw this guy doing some major number crunching, isn't that what you guys really look for?" kind of way?

Absolutely. I not only can, I do. I don't chat with you all much, but I'm always reviewing threads to help the CMs wade through the massive volume of ideas.

Q u o t e:
3. Also, could you ask them real quick how they like information compiled to best get their attention? We've been trying a lot of really random ways since we've rarely been given true ways to present the data.

Honestly? They're humans, and can read your thread no matter how you write it, so long as there's a basic organization of data.

A few pointers, though - first, shorter isn't necessarily better, but concise is. If you can draw out the main thrust of a paragraph in one sentence, please do so. ;) Second, consolidation of ideas (such as the "Protection Talents" threads going around) is always a good thing. Finally, do understand the difference between those issues which we recognize as "bugs", and those issues which are simply class features with which you disagree. Once the former is recognized, it needs no further discussion (or dead-horse-beating), but with the latter, all manner of (polite) discussion is welcome. In other words, yelling at the CMs to "fix [insert bug]!!!" doesn't accomplish anything. We know it's a bug. Please, move on to the opinionated concerns.

Hope this helps to shed a little light on the situation, Gerrex. Thank you for your civility - I certainly see why this forum has the Blue-eating reputation it does. ;) My little Paladin will prevail, though, and I'll let you know when she hits 60.
