Ok, I have an add-on WoWScribe, that logs chat in the channels you prefer. My default (for guild meetings) is say, emotes (both regular & text) and guild. Now, this worked pre-1.7 -- saving the chat into the SavedVariables file. For 1.7, I started using the commands to put it into the WoWChatLog.txt file... but there's a couple of problems (which I've proven is a problem w/o my addon, using /chatlog).
Regular (non-text) emotes (i.e. CHAT_MSG_EMOTE & not CHAT_MSG_TEXT_EMOTE) are missing from the WoWChatLog.txt ... but we have crafting creation & spell casting/fading that show up.
The following was recorded (as Gwylonna) using /chatlog... I started it, did /cheer, then the /em checks her mail... then turned it off & logged.

Now.. I was wondering why casting is in Chat & not Combat... and same with creation. In fact, when I do the same with my add-on, I get a similar result (just nothing from general/trade) -- using just 4 channels to log: CHAT_MSG_EMOTE, CHAT_MSG_TEXT_EMOTE, CHAT_MSG_GUILD, and CHAT_MSG_SAY.
Please, some blue check your code... this is not really logging if +you're+ skipping (or mis-labelling) chat channels.
