Subject: Tseric: Rationale on curse and magic removal
What is the rationale for the masters of magic, mages, to only be able to remove curses? What is the rationale for priests, experts at the occult, to remove magical effects? I honestly can't understand why the design of these two skills weren't swapped during the inital creation of the respective classes. In the past I've seen several posts regarding this topic but nothing from a developer or community manager.

This is the philosophy of 'Rock, Paper, Scissors' as it pertains to our game design.

R-P-S has less to do with roles and classes as it does with abilities and actions of those classes. While it may be reasonable to say 'Mages are the Rock to Warriors scissors', it is more accurate to say 'Mages have several counters to Warriors abilities'.

In the example you mentioned, this seeming imbalance allows participation of other classes in dealing with a source of damage. Spreading out counters among classes allows for more varied game play, rather than just having one class that can deal with all Arcane effects or all Nature effects.
