Subject: Economics
People keep ruining my markets on AH!! Is it so hard to understand oligopoly?

Form Cartels, stop price cuts, keep inflated markets alive! :P

J/K - but in all seriousness, stop price cutting to the point that the markets are no longer viable.

Mark my words. Economics is one of the most important disciplines that can be related to the design and execution of MMOs. Understanding human motivation and incentives, coupled with the observation of behavioral trends can and should be attempted in such virtual environments.

Sorry about the price cutting, though.

Q u o t e:
In my opinion the economics of a game are a pseudoscience. I mean, are you going to find the GDP of Ironforge City? I suppose it *is* important so that Krol Blades aren't selling for 3g, but I'd rather study the physics (or lack of them).

You are looking at it from purely the perspective of money and markets. I am talking about the broader term of economics, which relates to the science of measurement. At its base, economics deals with simple incentives of a moral, social or financial nature. All of these types of incentives can be found within the game environment and community. The challenge is asking the proper questions and relating data to real experience and activity.
