I have been playing over 9 months now, and have this L60 and several other high lvl alts....
I am on the Kargath server, which is an EST server, and yet I am on PST. I work & and have a
family, which means the earliest I can get online is 8-9 PST, making it 11-12 EST...
This makes it IMPOSSIBLE to access ANY of the end game content...Molten Core, Blackwing Lair, Onxyia, Zul Gurub, and even your upcoming Silithus content
I would like an answer from you on what I can do? b\c all I have been told is "Sorry, transfers are not possible now, but may become an option sometime in the future"
This is not an acceptable response IMO...I have paid over $200 to play this game and spent
countless hours leveling and acquiring "set" pieces etc, and frankly the response of either
"wait it out and hope such a service becomes available" or reroll on a PST server is
unacceptable to me. I have invested too much time (and money) to just scrap everything and
start again..
I have run the 5\10man's too many times to recollect and wasted way too many boring hours
farming for faction and loot...I don't want to do that again...
I would like to hear what you can do to help one of your paying customers out...I am not asking to switch b\c of server load..or wait times...etc...I am legitimately screwed here...
I feel that this is a legitimate issue that deserves to be looked at and responded to, more
than a one sentence canned response. I want to know how you can help me out, b\c I don't want
to quit your game, but I also don't want to start over again (just the thought of doing so
depresses me), and I don't want to keep logging on to do the same stuff over and over
again....and NEVER have access to "end game" content.
Does that seem fair to you?
And you won't release an ETA on a possible Realm-to-Realm transfers, so I will have to keep
paying $15mth until that nebulous date comes to pass (if ever), and then to add insult to
injury, rumours are you'll charge $40+ for me to do it...
I would like you to explain to me why this is acceptable and why there is nothing you can do
to help me
And to clarify...I didn't know the server was in another time zone, otherwise I NEVER WOULD HAVE
JOINED IT...and I don't recall "choosing" it either....
BTW, I had to go to another website to find out what servers were what timezone...I haven't
seen that info on the Blizzard website.
If it is there then I clearly missed it, but I can't find it...
Also, let me say that not having played MMORPG before to this extent, I did not anticipate that the "endgame" content YOU have created (20 and moreso 40-man instances) would make it impossible for me to join BECAUSE of the timezone difference...and such content is THE only end game content available to L60 characters...
I would like an answer on what I can do and\or how you can help me out of what I feel is a very legitimate issue NOT of my own doing...

Your problem is, unfortunately, a social one related to the community of your realm. The timezone of a given realm is readily noticeable by checking the time in the upper-right corner. While I'm sorry that you've levelled on a realm with a majority of players not fitting your personal playstyle, we are not offering individual transfers for this reason, as it would create a vast snarl with thousands of players submitting for a similar transfer. Personal transfers will be made available as soon as we can get them out to you; we're still in the process of making them available. That is your best option.

No, it's always been there; you simply need to hover your cursor over the sun/moon.
Lalana, the timezone was originally listed on the realm list, actually. The problem, however, was that the community is not evenly spread out across all timezones, and even though we made plans for that (many realms in the Eastern and Pacific timezones, less in Central, and even fewer in Mountain), we still had a number of population issues (among other things). As such, we made the decision to remove timezone notations from the realm list; I don't believe they'll be returning.
EDIT: Also, Lalana, you fail to realize why it would be such a hassle? I'll gladly explain.
If we made any sort of mention that transfers would be available for no cost for those unhappy with the community situation on their realm -- which, make no mistake, the timezone difference is -- it would be a huge tangle. Where do you move these people to? You can't overcrowd other realms, and as the reasoning is so subjective and impossible to prove without even more manhours sunk into the project, thousands more people would put in for it just to get a free transfer off their realm, including griefers.
In short, such a transfer system (one allowing free transfers due to the social situation on your given realm not fitting with your own schedule or playstyle) would not be successful and would also be used to circumvent the individual transfer system we have already in the works.[ post edited by Caydiem ]

I'm sorry -- where did I state that it was your fault? I apologize if you implied such from my words, but I assure you, that was not my intent.
The Oceania issue is different from the North American issue due to significant difference in pings, etc. and we're discussing how to address it as transfer plans come to fruition.

I am a game designer by profession. Got my degree in the field. I don't work for Blizzard, but I know when a cookiecutter lie is being thrown out. And here's why.
For many months, Blizzard has had realm-to-realm transfers available, from overly-crowded servers to low-population and new realms. They also have a "copy" service, so players can copy their toons to the test server.
Clearly, the code is there. The technology is available. From the toon to their gold and all their items, the ability to copy full characters is available.
Blizzard, however, is obviously hesitant to impliment it. Now, if you want the honest truth, it is because of crowd control. Many servers have queues and lag due to the number of players on it. Transferring even more to high-load servers would be a disaster, even if you pay for it.
So, what's my point? Quit lying. Don't say "we can't cuz we're still trying to figure out how," tell the real reason. Go into a detailed description of why realm-to-realm transfers haven't been opened. Explain to your intelligent paying customers why the service they've asked for is not available at this time. This BS of "can't do it cuz we don't know how yet" or "well if we did it for you everyone would want to do it" (how, by the way, would thousands of people find out about a single transfer done by customer service?). I think I speak for many when I say, I'm very tired of reading so many canned responses.
Actually, no. We're able to open up very restricted transfers currently, so the basis of the technology is there, true. However, we have run into some issues while testing the more open transfer system, and that is what we are resolving at this time. It's not a lie; it's the honest truth. Sometimes specific situations aren't as simple as they appear on the outside, regardless of our education on the subject. :)

Mishkael, I have already given you your answer. Individual transfers will be available at some point in the near future. It will not be a free service. I have explained the reasons why what you are requesting is not feasible, and how you could have easily checked the timezone in question. You may not like the answer, and for that I apologize, but it is the one I have to give.

You should be able to move to a different timezone once the transfers are available, yes. (Mind you, this is within our North American service.)
