Anyone else notice that Hero Classes have been dropped from the under development page?
Any insight on this, Blizz, or did I miss a dozen threads already?

We removed the entire "On the Horizon" section, if you noticed. That does not mean Hero Classes are no longer in development, nor does it mean they're currently slated for the expansion. They're still very much in the conceptual stage, and I would suggest avoiding assumptions based on the removal of one item on the website. ;)

Yes, they're "still" in the conceptual stage.
It isn't easy to create something like Hero Classes, particularly with all the expectations surrounding the concept. While I'm aware you're concerned that they're still being designed at the basic level, consider how much the game has grown and evolved since launch -- how different the 60s of now are in behavior and power compared to the first level 60s. The end game has changed, the PvP is different, and the factors that surround such an alternate advancement system are all integrally tied to what has shifted.
Why isn't there more information? Because we don't have information to give. As we've always said, we'll have more information regarding Hero Classes when they're closer to completion.

Q u o t e: Everything but character changes should have already been taken into consideration. It's not like BGs and honor was released and the team suddenly said 'oh, gee, we forgot to factor in the impact of those things with hero classes!'.
This is an announcement of DN Forever proportions.
The Honor System changed quite a bit from its initial concept, I believe. Remember, too, that "character changes" are a large chunk of what has shifted and would affect any potential Hero Class design the most, particularly in PvP in general (I'm not talking about the Honor System here).
It's a precarious balance they're attempting to strike -- it's not something that can be drawn up in a day.

Q u o t e: K, how about a year? Why were we told these would be available in retail?
Many concepts are stated as being "planned for launch" during the beta stages, but there is a cut-off. There was never a promise regarding Hero Classes being in for launch. We said we planned to have them in at that time early on, yes, but in order to launch the game within a reasonable time frame, some things have to be delayed. The concept of Hero Classes was one such feature.

Q u o t e: Or in over a year, apparently.
Sorry for sounding pessimistic, Caydiem, it's not you people are upset with. It simply seems that the Hero Classes are now, basically, vaporware - forever in development, never to be seen.
Until someone comes out with a hard-line concept of what these will be - as in, what the concept for hero classes is, how it will work (in general) with the rest of the world, etc. - these classes are fictional entities that we may as well classify with unicorns and honest politicians.
And that very concept is what they're working on ironing out.
But again, you're not going to see more information on this system until it's much further along.

Q u o t e: Which is why you will continue to get massive amounts of posts calling it vaporware.
See the never ending circle? Why would it be so terrible to include your huge community on this at least a little bit? Tell us what concepts you are batting around. Give us some brainstormed ideas. Sure you get whiny kids, but how is that different than now?
Because this huge community has a tendency to take concepts as promises, no matter how many disclaimers we make. Take a step back and look at the arguments that have sprung up over the past week over nothing but third-party rumors, or the responses in this very thread proclaiming we promised Hero Classes in by launch. Any information such as you're requesting would result in a phenomenal explosion on these forums based on the assumption that these brainstorm ideas are rock-solid and will be implemented into the game tomorrow.
As such, our policy is to give information when we're confident that the current iteration will be implemented.
