Should it not be what the majority of the customers think, rather then what the developers think?
For instance, the recent quote by Eyonix which has led many of us to believe Shamans will come before Priests, Mages, and Rogues.
There is (judging by the sheer number of "nerf shaman" posts since release) nearly nobody who thinks they should have priority.
I am a firm believer that PvP plays as big a part in WoW as PvE. Now, to say Shamans have priority over other classes simply because they may not be as great in PvE ((Totems are extremely usefull)) is not what the player base wants.
Priests are in dire need of talents (more so than Rogues and Shamans). Why is the Shaman class gaining priority over the Priest, Mage, and Rogue? This is not what the majority of players want.
Notice if this is incorrect Eyonix, then simply say so. But a lot of us have taken what you said to mean Shaman are after Paladins.[ post edited by Aeonus ]

The developers listen to player feedback, but they are under no obligation to make changes in that vein. Players often have a very different view of the game as a whole -- as they play one class or a small subset of classes, it is around these that the world revolves. This is a perfectly natural thing; everyone's perception of the game is colored by their own personal experiences. Such a perspective is valuable, and that's why we listen to player impressions and report them to the designers, who take them into account.
However, the developers must take a different approach than the player perspective -- they must view the game as a whole and decide where best to go next. It may differ at times from popular opinion, but understand that they are operating with full knowledge of your impressions as well as the data they have in front of them as developers.
So while you, as a 60 Mage, naturally feel that Shaman should not be given priority over your own class, the developers have a different mindset due to the data they hold.

Q u o t e: How can you say with a straight face, so to speak, that devs listen to player feedback? 90% of these threads are never read, 99% are never responded to. Go to the Warrior forum and take a look at the sticky thread dated 4-25...lol almost SIX months ago. This thread has been broken and out of date for months now, and nothing. Blizzard=dont care.
H
Quite easily. Just because we don't respond doesn't mean we're not reading. We do, at length, and the developers do listen to what we have to say. Often times we don't post with an "I'll pass this along," due to the fact that many seek a follow-up to such a post; often times we have no follow up to give. Post your feedback on the forums; we're reading. We may not be soliciting particular class feedback at the time, but that doesn't mean we're not perusing impressions on the class forum regardless.
In short, I can say it with confidence because I'm one of the people that takes your feedback to the developers and hold conversations focusing on that very thing. You are operating on speculation, whereas I am operating on fact. Simple. :)

Q u o t e: You guys are missing the point. Eyonix wrote that because (as he said himself) he has a level 60 shaman while he probably doesnt bother to play his mage at all (because the class is boring to him, I don't blame him).
Anyway, onto the point. There is no one who plays a level 60 mage that has an effect on patch developerment
To make it more clear; noone at blizzard who talks to the patch developers (like eyonix or caydiem etc) plays a level 60 mage and none of the patch developers play a level 60 mage. Who goes to programming school and is hired to create WoW patches that ISN'T a gamer? Im pretty sure at least 90% of the patch developers play WoW.
However, no patch developer (or anyone who could effect a patch in any way) plays a level60 mage.

There are level 60 Mages on the development team, in point of fact, as well as level 60 Paladins. Thanks. :)[ post edited by Caydiem ]
