Starting a new thread, as making a reply on page 35+ is going to make many miss it.
Let me start of with apologizing for not responding throughout the day. I have been unable to follow the thread until now, but will see what questions from there I can answer.
Please keep this thread civil. People have every right to be upset and complain without others calling them names. Also, people have the same right to give support without being called names. Disagreeing is no excuse for verbal harassment. Do keep that in mind when posting on these forums.

Q: Why was there such a short notice?
A: The idea of transferring realms has been discussed, but it was not until just before we posted that message that it was decided how, when and which realms. We didn't want to post before we had specifics and the plan was conirmed as that may cause unnecessary speculation or expectations.
Q: why is <realm name> not on the list?
A: Only realms in the data centres where the eight transferring realms are coming from or going to are involved in this downtime, hence only those realms are included in this particular messaging and game time extension.
Q: Game time extension?
A: A day of game time extension means we add one day to the time already paid on your game account.
Q: Define an "active character"
A: I believe that's any character on an account with access to the game (i.e. not closed accounts). I'm not 100% sure though, and will have to get back to you on that one.
Q: What about others getting extended game time?
A: I'm not at the liberty to comment or discuss any other game time extension on the forums. If we decide on such it will be given in an official statement, not as part of a Q&A. ;)
Q: Do I get extended game time for each of the realms I have characters on?
A: No. You only get the longest extended game time you're eligible for. Either 2 days or four days.
Q: What about <insert realm> being down, or login being slow now?
A: I'm sorry, but these threads are addressing these specific chages and actions. Please check the realm status forum, or make separate threads about other realms.
Q: Will the ongoing migration be extended due to this?
A: There are currently no plans to extend the migration due to this. Note that the migration news stated clearly that you should not expect to be able to migrate on Wednesdays.
Q: Are the transferred realms going to a brand new data centre?
A: No, they're going to the least populated one of the ones we already have.
Q: Why only two French ralms down?
A. There are fewer French realms to begin with, and none of those are not in the same data centre as the tranferring realms. The two French realms that are down are in the centre the realms are being transferred to.

A: Depends how polluted it is.

A: On those in the same data centre, that's the wanted effect.
Q: Will you transfer more realms later?
A: No word on that at this time.

Because the problems are happening (or at least many times magnified compared to earlier) now. I think leaving it for another week would be a great disservice to all affected players.

Setting up a new data centre is not done in such short time. We aim to keep the load in check now and implement other improvements to make the system more robust.

Edit: the second one is probably due to the same performance issues. Sorry for mixing it up with something else at first.

There are no plans to adjust the material levels or otherwise speed up the Ahn'Qiraj war effort due to downtime.
