I logged in yesterday and discovered that a warning had been placed on my account for swearing by a GM
I play on a RP server where the /report function is usually used to harass players that you've fallen out with. Someone grabs a chest you wanted? - report their name for being "inappropriate". Someone beats you in a duel - report them for mentioning their crit in /say
Same situation here - we were a bad-tempered and fairly useless PUG getting hammered in a battleground. Someone who was being just as useless as everyone else starts lecturing us on how to play. My response was short and crisp, using words of four letters
I believe he /reported me to try to screw me up
Now why, in a game that is 12+ and contains profanity filters, must I suffer for telling someone to *&^% off, $%^&
12 year olds use these words, watch TV after 9pm which contains these words and worse and if parents didn't want them to see them they could insist on the profanity filter
I see between 2 and 50+ swearwords every time I play WoW. Swearing is normal in a competitive game
I feel annoyed that someone who probably sees just as many swearwords as I do and never raises it when his mates do it, /reported me and got me warned for swearing.
I would guess that in 99.9% of the cases where a player is reported for swearing the issue is not the swearing (since if that bothered someone they'd have the profanity filter on) but is simply an excuse to grief players using a legalistic loophole
Real orcs don't need heals

Talmo, the only reason I'm leaving your post and not removing it, is so others can see what kind of behaviour is very unwanted.
GMs are here to help all our players, not to be harassed, insulted or otherwise attacked.
It's fine, Learn 2 Post.
