Subject: How is healing not fun?

I've been enjoying being a healer a lot so far. I'm all holy/disc specced and buying only 'of the owl'/+heal gear, and it's fun.
All you have to do is keep everyone alive while you watch the battle. You get lots of appraisal for it, too.
The best part is that when you're the only healer in the group, you have power over everyone else. If the group leader thinks they can just roll need on every item to disenchant, they'll think twice when they realize that their only healer doesn't like the idea as much as they do.
I've left groups with disrespectful/ignorant players, and a few minutes later I'd get begs and several re-invites back into the group. Thing is, I'll agree to rejoin if they agree to stop being little loot ninjas. ("i have to roll need on everything cuz im in debt with the wrong ppl"? what kind of excuse is that?)
Is it worse at higher levels? My player info thing is old or something, because I'm 27 right now, but I've healed 10+ people at once and it wasn't bad... Are 40 man raids really as drudgingly horrible to heal as I hear?

How one enjoys a particular play style mostly comes down to personal taste and preference, which is often influenced (for better or worse) by individual experience. For instance, I've met many healers that have had far too many less than enjoyable experiences grouping with players who were far less appreciative than what you're reporting. It's unfortunate, to say the least -- especially for those that genuinely enjoyed the aspect of playing a full support role.

Personally, my experiences (overall) have been good. I've always enjoyed playing healers in both groups and raids. My Priest and Shaman are both level 60, and my Druid is approaching 40 now. While I've done more PUGs than most people I know over the course of the last two years, I've had some grand experiences, and further developed my skill of doing something that I personally enjoy.

On a long enough time line it's not likely that all of your experience will be gratifying, but try to gain as much as you can from them and don't let others bring you down. It's easier to state that "healing is fun/not fun", than it is to acknowledge just how subjective either of those statements really are.

Bottom line, do what you enjoy. Don't let the opinions of others discourage you. What do they say opinions are like? :P

Is your druid a moonkin?

Feather pride!

Is there any other kind of Druid!? :)

Well, anyway -- she'll be a Moonkin shortly.
