Subject: Follow your own rules, moderators.

This is a copy of an email sent to both the moderator feedback email, Vivendi, and Blizzard itself, so deleting it won't do a damn bit of good:

I do this in the interests of fellow posters who might also be offended by the lack of moderation I see on your forums. Here is a detailed list of threads that break both the code of conduct and posted "sticky" rules in each forum, since apparently your moderators cannot adhere to their own rules and delete threads. Since your moderators cannot equally enforce their own rules across their own forums, I ask that you either move them to another sector or hire workers who can actually follow their own guidelines. Here are posts that I have either reported myself and no action was taken, or threads I have seen that are in violation of the rules that your moderators don't care enough to delete:

"pron" is an offensive term relating to pornography, which is prohibited on the forums.

Posters in this thread continually harass (myself included) a fellow poster, and no action is taken.

I believe the word "pu$$y" violates a rule, as it works around the profanity filter to spell out a profanity.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=7102054&p=1

Over half of these posts are blatant "bumps" which are violations of the rules stated in "stickies".

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=6905205&p=1

This thread is a "sticky" itself, but many posts insult fellow posters or Blizzard employees or are simply "spamming and trolling" in and of themselves.

The second post in this thread is a "bump" which is inherently against the terms of use of the forums, and I can guarantee futher posts in the thread violate other rules.

Post 323 by "Julie" constitues a "bump" which is expressly forbidden by your own rules.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=8805318&p=20

Post 398 by "Infrared" insults fellow posters

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=8822299&p=1&tmp=1#post8822299

Post 5 is ASCII art, which is expressly forbidden by the rules and yet still exists.

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.aspx?fn=wow-general&t=8819732&p=1

Post 13 mocks other players, a violation.

In just a few minutes of casually browsing your forums, I have found innumerable violations of your own rules, and exemptions by "blue" posters because they found the topic (even though it -- in violation -- said "blue" in the title) worthwhile of a post. Why I'm bringing this to your attention is thus: if your own employees cannot follow their own rules and moderate their forums according to the stated rules, they why should anyone else? Your moderators exist as gods unto themselves, deleting one type of profane post yet leaving others with a validating "blue" response.

Since this will most likely be deleted and responsed to with a copy and paste email, I will be sure to research email addresses higher up in the chain of command so that those in the chain of command superior to forum moderators will see the distinct lack of respect and hypocrisy that those the employ enforce on the forums. What you have right now is the blind moderating the blind, except that those moderating are the vengeful blind.

I could care less if you wanted to enforce the strictest guidelines of any website on the internet, just that you enforce them fairly. As it stands now, your moderators delete "offensive" posts at will, while leaving 1,000x that many on the forums that break the same rule because it would be too much work to enforce the rules equally. Since this will by summarily deleted by your email-responder, I will be copying, pasting, and forwarding it to knowledgable parties and your business superiors at Vivendi Universal etc.

Posting in any thread will be grounds for one minute in the penalty box.

You should click the Biohazard symbol next to any post you find that violates the rules. Once it has been reported to us that way we will investigate it and take the appropriate action.

If you have any feedback about our moderation please email it to wowreportedpost@blizzard.com.

Thanks.
