Subject: WoW Problems

I downloaded and installed the 1.11 patch. Now whenever I try to start WoW, I get the following error:

This application has encountered a critical error:

ERROR #134 (0x85100086) Fatal Condition
Program: C:\Program Files\Games\World of Warcraft\WoW.exe

Unable to establish a connection to socket: The attempt to connect was forcefully rejected.

Help?

I love that error message. I might get in trouble if I use it as my signature though.

I could watch Datth's Avatar for hours...

And I think I might have to.

Connected... Disconnected from server...

It shouldn't be doing that. Do you have McAfee or Norton installed?

It likes to kill a random patch from connecting since the first WoW patch. Try removing the feature called McAfee Privacy Services. It's in your Control Panel -> Add/Remove Programs as McAfee Privacy Services or it will be a selectable option under McAfee Uninstall. It won't affect your Firewall or Antivirus options after it is removed.

Q u o t e:
I have all other programs turned off (other than the browser, apparently). And I get the connected...disconnected problem as well, but only for one of my realms (Malygos). It might be a server issue, if you could have them look into it, we'd <3 you long time.
In the case that it is just the server kicking you out, the server team is looking into that.

Q u o t e:
what about norton?
Temporarily disabling the entire Norton Internet Security suite would be a quick way to check it. Try that and see if you can log onto your realm.

Q u o t e:

Still getting to 'Connected' and then disconnected in a few minutes. Would windows firewall be a problem as well?
The type of disconnections you'd see from the two mentioned programs is that you'll get to "Retrieving Character List" then get disconnected from the server. If you are getting stuck at Connected, hit Cancel and see if you can hop onto another realm to test. If you can get on fine, there's a good chance it's not your machine.

Some servers are experiencing issues and are causing your problems. Try looking at the Breaking News section on the login screen for a list of 'em. Kargath is one of them.
