I like the new forum features a lot. The talents and pvp rank are neat and the updated avatars add a lot of flavour to the forums. I'm still poking around and discovering all the new stuff and everything seems alright-- except the page formatting.
There seems to be a lot of wasted space on each page. For example the list of threads page has what seems to be an excessive amount of space dedicated to the "blizzard", "lock", and "sticky" icons area. A positive point about that page is that the threads are spaced farther apart than were previously which makes browsing easier on the eyes. That is a GOOD use of space!
The main offender of space abuse are the players' avatars. It takes up about a third of the page! There are a lot of simple ways to streamline these without losing the features. One suggestion I would like to make is this; drop the "race" icon that is to the left of the portrait. Really, there is no need for this because the portrait itself displays the race and most of us forum-goers are able to distinguish a night elf from a gnome.
To the right of the portait you have the 'view all posts by this player' and 'igonre' buttons. Neat-- but here again we see the wasted space. These buttons could easily be stacked on top of each other to minimize the 'horizontal' space they now occupy.
Also, with all that space the text for some realms and guilds STILL does not fit and gets cut off! I can understand cutting off those super long run-on word guilds but there is no reason to cut off your realm names.
To close I'd like to add a suggestion I've seen voiced already; change the player rank to the highest one they obtained rather than their current.

I have seen a few posts with suggestions regarding the size of the 'avatar section'. I would recommend posting any suggestions for the new forums in the suggestion forum.
I am curious, what resolution are you running at?
